folly of friday fragments

I may be a pepperoni short of a pizza, but don't let that influence your browsing over to Mrs. 4444's famous Friday Fish Fry for all Fragments hosting.  Really other than fragments I don't have a clue what she's serving this Friday.

Mommy's Idea

We just returned from a fun week+ trip this last Monday night. My wife and I witnessed an amazing event just a few hours before we pulled into our home. It’s an event that rural folks are more likely to witness. It took place not too far over the border of Indiana.

I’m not going to tell anymore about it in this post. I thought a teaser might be fun.

One stop on our trip was Shenandoah National Park.  A very beautiful escape into nature.

We crossed the AT (Appalachian Trail est. 2180 miles) on our hike to see a waterfall.  I recommend taking your spouse with you on Appalachian hiking because they might be suspect of you having a love affair with more than the outdoors.  We didn't come across any ex-governors or Argentinian women.

I tried hiding in the trees.

Our Canon Powershot camera has a setting to miniaturize things.  I tried it on my wife.  Can you see how small she became?  The effect does not last long.

Earlier in our trip, I tried hiding on my sister's boat.  It's a really nice boat (we don't own a boat) and I thought maybe I could just stay on it and no one would miss me.

A boat with toilet paper - how cool

Protests - I grew up in the sixties with sit-ins, marches and a few riots. If it’s not a riot and there is no damage then why not protest. We all have something to complain about right?

Should clowns be allowed to protest?

Alton Towers’ Carnival of Screams was a new attraction featuring a “freakish circus troupe” based in a travelling funhouse that has been taken over by evil clowns. This UK theme park’s added it to their Scarefest 2010. (yeah I know that’s last year’s news but keeping up on clown news takes time)

I had my Thursday posting dilemma again today. You see I like to take some time to create my FF post and I want to have it up on Thursday night. I also think many readers don’t have time for two posts in one day. I know some readers will go back and read earlier posts but c’mon we often don’t have the time to do that. My dilemma is when I have a post idea on Thursday in addition to the FF post. I don’t really want to post two the same day. My solution today was to mention it here and leave you the link to the earlier post

Ok you can now return to that pizza I made you hungry for.

Why didn't you just schedule your FF post for early Friday morning? You are right though about it being best to just post once a day--I agree!

Gorgeous pictures except the one of you on the boat toilet....
Have a wonderful weekend!

It sounds like a great trip!

I love the pic where your wife looks tiny.  What a cool feature to have on your camera!

Clowns should be allowed to protest just like everyone else.
Just not taken seriously, because, they are, after all, a clown.

I didn't know any cameras had the shrink feature. I am always trying to get things larger in the lens. That is why I like my zoom so much.

It is fun seeing some pics of your trip.

::slap y'across the face:: about the minimizing effect not lasting long.  But, in all honesty that was a hoot!!

Argghhh......WHY did you say pizza?  I was already to havea  cookie for breakfast.  Now I want pizza.  Your trip looks amazing and I am NOT happy that you just threw out the teaser and didn't finish that little story.  I was totally sucked in.  No fair!  I am protesting!

That picture with your wife is awesome.

thanks - I like the effect too.

It is fun but you do need to plan the shots.  Also switching the setting can take a little time which may result in a missed shot.  However it's nice to have the options. thanks

Funny - well the teaser event has little to do with pizza but actually it is slightly related.  You are the first to comment about the teaser.  Thanks

Thanks for sharing a comment.  Please come back anytime.  I like that you gave us a link.  I'll be visiting.

Good point about clowns.  The shrink effect uses the focus of the shot to make it look that way.  thanks

thanks -  It is fun but you do need to plan the shots.

thanks - hey I was not using it at the time.  Really cozy in there.

Hmmm, now I want pizza for dinner.

My mom took us on a few protest marches in the late 80s, mostly when they decided to put an incinerator in our town. She stuck anti-incinerator pins on our jackets, taught us chants (1, 2, 3, 4, clean air's what we're fighting for!), and pulled us behind her in the wagon. My school friend's mother (who was also our child section librarian) got arrested for chaining herself to the fence. It was all very dramatic.

I haven't been part of a good protest in years!

That looks like a cool location for a head on a boat and its door is awesome!  And you Canon does take lovely pictures and the effects are amazing.  I wonder if our camera has such an effect.  Sounds like you had a great time on the trip that Ms Gwen took you on.

"head" - I can tell you are a sailor.  It was a fun trip but honestly I could have done it without GPS Gwen.  thanks

Oh the good old protest days.  I guess you could take a trip to Greece.  They are having some good ones.  Nothing like a water cannon on a hot day.
thanks

That miniature function looks great.

How do you close that toilet door?  Way too small.

lisleman said...

I think you are asking about closing the door while you are in there - right?  I didn't try that but now wish I did.  I think it would be too tight to close it all the way.  I guess closing the door would not matter since everyone on the boat would know that you opened it and got in.  I did learn that the marina will empty the tank for you.  good question

I liked the picture of the little woman. Clever.

It seems like a lot of people read my blog through readers and stop by every couple of days, so I don't think they mind two posts. FF is my Friday post, so I don't think it's a big deal to post it early.

Did you witness a birth?

Love the miniaturize feature! How fun is that?! (very fun)

Thanks for linking up! Have a great weekend.

Wow you are a good guesser.  I'm not very consistent with using the reader.  I have the google reader and the blogger reader (bottom of dashboard page).  Sometimes the reader is so full, I'll just go to the blogs directly.  You can't comment while in the reader can you?  Thanks stopping by.

lisleman said...

thanks - I thought it turned out sorta funny.

My eldest daughter is spending the weekend visiting Alton Towers, on the mainkland UK as I type!  Love the photo's, I see you are squeezing lots of joy out of your travels.

lisleman said...

"squeezing"  that's an interesting description.  I don't know much about Alton Towers but I gather that it is the most popular theme park in the UK.  thanks

Interesting camera effect.

I can hardly keep up with a post a day, so I don't even try with more than a post a day.  I love the blog world but sometimes its overwhelming.

Oh don't worry about skipping a few.  You are one of great readers that go back and read older posts.  Thanks.  Blogging sucks up time but if you are enjoying it and real life doesn't suffer then I guess you are balancing it ok.  I started to vent my blogging frustrations and observations on my I Can't Blog blog.
