what the fragment, its Friday

into Friday

How ever you got here, do you have some fragments to share?  Mrs. 4444 will help spread your digital fragments around (click on the button at the bottom of the post).

You know when you call some company and they announce "your call maybe recorded for training purposes", don't you wish you could get a copy of the recording?

An old man in pajamas is reclaiming ownership of the company he started 57 years ago.

"The brand resonates today as clearly as at any time in its 57-year history," Hefner said. "I believe this agreement will give us the resources and flexibility to return Playboy to its unique position and to further expand our business around the world."

Yes Hefner is taking total control of the company with a buyout offer.  Expect to see the bunny logo even more as Hugh tries to get a rise out of it.

Did you ever leave two comments in a row?
You do leave comments right?
Since I had just read about this easy to make banana toast idea, I’ll blame this on my stomach. Here is what I wrote in a comment, “Some many blogs and only some much time.”

“Some” vs. “So”??   What my fingers just wanted to type more letters?

I had to leave a second comment because the comment system didn’t offer an edit function. So don’t complain about the DISQUS I use because it gives you that edit function. Well actually you can complain anyway because that’s a blogger’s right.

Dead birds in Arkansas - It did remind me of Al's movie "The Birds".  Here's a bit of trivia.  One of the minor actors in that movie was Doodles Weaver.  What a great name!  Guess who his niece is?  (I'll answer in the comments if someone doesn't beat me to it)  Oh the falling birds?  - blame twitter or Apple’s Angry Birds app.

Oh, it irritates me so, when I re-read a comment I've written after it's posted and there are misspellings or left out words or double words or whatever the mistake it was I made, and I can't fix it!

lisleman said...

It probably bothers the writers more than the readers. thanks

If I'm calling to complain about something, I think, "Good!!! This will be on record!"

I know the answer, but I cheated by googling him.

I thought Hugh ran the company into the ground the last time he owned it outright

lisleman said...

that's not cheating it's just using your resources. I'll wait a bit before revealing the answer.

I don't know if it was his poor management or poor taste in PJs but the world changed and it didn't change much.

I guessed Sigourney and verified it. :-D

We stayed at a bed and breakfast in California once years ago that was a filming location for The Birds - the schoolhouse. That movie creeped me out!

lisleman said...

Yes Sigourney had an uncle that went by the name Doodles. Did you see "Avatar"? She is still a hot looking lady.
"The Birds" scared me too since I was young but not as much as my older sister who took me to see it. As we walking away afterward I made some bird calls and scared her.

Being able to edit your comment is a nice feature! And yes, I have also left two comments in a row.

I read somewhere about a spellchecker for comments, but now I can't find it. It would make my life so much better!

lisleman said...

Yes that helps and I have spellchecker point out errors. The problem is when I drop words or write a different word than the one I wanted. Spellchecker didn't help with the example above.
I'm not sure but the spellchecker might be an option on your browser. I use Firefox.

The dead birds reminded me of last tv season's show about "Flash Forward". It was kinda creepy and has since been cancelled but dead birds played a part in it too.

Love the frog graphics :-)

Happy weekend, jj

thanks - you are the first one to mention the frog - I picked it up at :

I promise I read your whole post even though I'm only commenting on the first things. Sometimes I want to call back and ask "Did you record that... you need to listen to it... is that how you want your employees to treat your customers... oh wait, you're not sure... oh that's because YOU can't understand them either!"

I wonder sometimes how I end up leaving the same comment twice. It is embarrassing. I love it when I find typo's in my own post too; being a writer and all..so professional :)
The dead birds were freaking me out but everyone keeps telling me it is nothing new. I think it is still freaky!

lisleman said...

Maybe we could start doing are own recordings and posting them on youtube. I completely understand your feeling on this. thanks

lisleman said...

I think anymore than say 3 or 4 dead birds in one place is freaky. thanks for sharing.

I think I'm going to change the recording on my voicemail to say, "Your message may be recorded for training purposes".

I can't even edit my own comments at my own blog. I don't like that. I do would like to have this disqus thing but not sure if I can handle the technical issues. It does make a blog look more modern. Plus by now I am sure most commenters have got used to it. But I wonder how do I sign it properly with disqus to comment. It didn't seem to recognise me fully. And my picture won't appear. But don't trouble yourself with my silly problem Lisleman. I'll try to explore a bit more on my own.

oceangirl415 said...

I got I got it. I just had to log in. Thank you. Is this considered leaving two comments in a row???

lisleman said...

Technically it's your second comment but it's a great comment because you were successful with logging into DISQUS. You should register your blog with them then other comment readers can click on your name and go to your blog. We had a discussion of DISQUS on my ICB blog about 4 months ago. Look in the comment section at http://blogicant.blogspot.com/
Also here's another good write-up on comments and DISQUS -

Oh man, the things my fingers want to type as opposed to what my brain is trying to convey - even as I type THIS message. The delete key is an automatic part of my communication in this digital age.

lisleman said...

good thing you don't you use white-out on the screen. Backspace/delete - yes it's friend to us all.
