Chicago Blues pictures

It was a busy day that reminded you how hot and sticky it can be in Chicago.  Did you hear about the Blackhawks and Stanley Cup?  No way, could you miss the news if you went down to the Loop.

Those flags are at the bottom of this building that changed its name but we still call it the "Sears Tower".

It's a tradition to decorate the Art Institute lions.  I wonder what their artist would think.

On the other side of the Art Institute the guitar riffs and harmonica shaking started to fill the air.

That's Cafe R&B on stage.  The singer, Roach (must be an interesting history to that name) could really strut her stuff and belted out a powerful song.

And there was beer, food ($$) and free cranberry stuff.

Otis Taylor sounded great.  He had a excellent fiddler.  She is in the white outfit.  Her name is Anne Harris and she plays a mean hot fiddle.  She probably liked that big fan blowing on her.

The people watching was great too.  I might threaten the family that I'm going to dress like this guy (not the one with the tie).

I have never been to Chicago. It's never been on my radar, but it looks really fun!

you should make it over here - great place for music, aquariums, museums, ethnic neighborhoods, etc. I enjoy visiting the various areas. Oh, if you didn't know it, you can click on the "Chicago" tag and pull up my Chicago related posts.
thanks.

I really enjoyed Sunday in your city.

Actually I think the joke "Big Willie" works good too.

Fun times! I cracked up at the clarification of whom you were threatening to dress like. I pictured your family screaming, "Not a tie!" Instead they could scream, "No tie-dye!".

I tried not putting on a tie for a studio type picture but I lost. I had a jacket and dress shirt but wife still wanted the tie.
I like the dude's shirt but the fake dreadlocks and weird blue glasses are too much. He looked dressed for a costume party. I say no tie just tie-dye!

That sure looks like a great time. And hats off to the Hawks. While I hate to admit it, they were better than the FlyGuys.

can't get much better than OT for a game though.

Yeah Hawks. If you visit my Sunday, you'll know what hockey city I come from. Unfortunately no cup, but first draft pick. That's what comes from being last! Great pictures. I've always wanted to see the "Sear" tower.

I would think the artist would enjoy the fact that the lions are decorated and that they are included in the fanfare. Roach does indeed have a great voice and her husband can play guitar! You are so lucky to be living where you see an hear the caliber of music you show in this post. Otis Taylor? So cooooool!!

You reminded me what a GRAT city Chicago is. So diverse with so much going on to see. But I didn't know the Sears Tower changed names! That just doesn't seem right! I used to do work for the Tribune Company in Chicago-- That was a gorgeous building too... inside and out.

Thanks for the fun tour. I'll be looking for you in that wild shirt next time.

Cheers,
jj

You're right about the Tribune Tower. I was fortunate enough to have a couple of meetings there and even got a tour once.
thanks

that was a fun little challenge - the Edmonton Oilers - not such a great name at the moment with the gulf problem.
thanks for the puzzler

Fun photos!

Aside from O'Hare airport (which I appear to be in the minority about as I actually like it very much), I've only seen Chicago from the air. I shall have to rectify this, I think.

Oh my goodness! This looks like so much fun! I can just imagine the heat though as it has been hot as can be in Philly these past two weeks! Great pictures!

not too bad when a breeze came by but some of the performers had to be feeling the heat.

I can think of worst airports such as Heathrow, but any big airport can be a pain. I have some other posts about Chicago up here. Just click the Chicago tag.
thanks
