what's that smell

Did you bring me White Castle for dinner?

No but I got this great scented candle.

There was a time when I had a taste for the White Castle slider.  No more.  Actually the chain trademarked them as "Slyders".  If you are from the Chicagoland area you probably know of and may have tried these little hamburgers.  I noticed on their web site listing, locations as far south as Tennesse and east as New York.

But say I am missing that warm smell of grease and onions drifting up from their grill, now I could buy it in a candle.  It goes to a good cause, Autism Speaks.  You can order online.

There something apropos about this scented candle refreshing the air in your bathroom.

From their web site:
White Castle is more than a company. It’s an experience that transcends time, space and sometimes, rational thought. For almost a century our unique approach has made our food the answer to what you crave.

transcends rational thought - oh yeah after a night of drinking stopping at White Castle transcends something.  I stopped eating them about the same time I cut back on late night drinking.

Ah White Castle, I remember it well. We always went by it on the way to my grandmother's in Queens.

We had White Castles in upstate NY back in the 50s. And they were great after a night of carousing and drinking for me in the mid-60s. But I haven't seen one since then in Denver, Phoenix, or Los Angeles. I guess I don't miss them.

I never thought of that. Are you one?

given the possible digestive reaction - was grandma's close by?

We used to have them in Malaysia in the 80s, then they went away. I enjoyed their little burgers.

I haven't ever had White Castle food. Heard of it though. Lots of people really like it. As for you, I am glad to hear of your discontinuing the late night drinking as well as eating so late at night. Bet you are feeling better in lots of ways.

I enjoyed them once too but not so much anymore. They are not too bad once in awhile and if you don't eat too many.

the late night stuff was long ago. The combo of maturity, wisdom, common sense, etc. put me on a better path.

I thought you were joking. I had to check this out.

They are sold out.

I eat seafood, but no bird or mammal. So, yeah, a nightmare gift for me!

I've always wanted to try them and one day I went to the supermarket really hungry (not a good idea), they had them in the frozen section. They were gross. I'm sure they are better at the store than frozen and microwaved, but my experience was so bad I don't think I'll ever try them.

I know what the problem was - you didn't drink enough tequila, whiskey, or whatever poison you prefer, before you ate them. You can be able to think about eating them when you eat them.
Joking, people say they are "an acquired taste".

My late father used to love those. When he was in hospital, recovering from surgery, we snuck a bag of them in to him. He was sublimely happy. :)
