youtube only 5 years ago amazing

Are you a youtube fan?
Have you ever posted a youtube clip?
Yes and Yes

I remember watching the clips before google bought them.  Google paid 1.65 billion for it.  That's amazing.
The first clip, 19 seconds long, was posted on April 23, 2005.  It's one of the co-founders talking about a visit to the zoo.  Just 5 years later and look at what internet type growth can do.

3 years and over 15 million view ago this clip became one of my favorites.

Where the hell is Matt

Back in 2005 if someone asked you to watch a viral video, you probably would be wondering if it was a pharmaceutical ad or public health announcement.

The clips are not just funny silly stuff either.  You can find math lessons, travel, how-to, old commercials and even the White House on youtube.  Today, 24 hours worth of video is uploaded to YouTube each minute, a milestone reached in March 2009.  click here to read more numbers.

Want to take a trip back to black and white TV?  You might just understand why smoking became the problem it did.  It was wonderful.

Lastly, here's my attempt at a viral video.   It has over 24 thousand views.  More than I ever imagined.

Wow 24,000! Congratulations.

I went to youtube to get songs. Our internet is still a snail so everything takes time. I thoroughly enjoyed the video of Matt and how did he get on that rock in Norway. People are so creative and youtube offers that platform.

My son told me that President Obama was the first President to officially use youtube as an official media of communication. That is a sign of how it has become "the place".

Enjoyed the cigarette video too. Thank you.

We have seen a couple Matt videos and they are just awesome. It always gives me a lump in my throat. We are all connected all over the planet and videos like the one of Matt dancing around the globe remind us of that. As for your video, I bow to your imagination and glad you joined the You Tube club.

It's nice to hear from someone else that sees more potential in youtube than just goofy video clips. Anything to bring people peacefully together is a good thing. Thanks for sharing.

thanks so I take it that you didn't see the Matt video before. That rock is somewhat famous but I would not even walk on it nor would I want to watch any family or friend go on. To easy for an accident.

no my background music was from a cable show called curb your enthusiasm.
Hey did you notice Sossusvlei Namibia in the 'where the hell is matt" video?

It is amazing isnt it - only five years old. Can you imagine having a business that young and sellig it for what they did? Oh pure genius. And thanks for positing those great clips. Where the hell is Matt now I wonder?

having an idea that turns into a big business would be a dream come true. There is that element of right place at the right time.
Matt? I don't follow him but I know he has a web site.

Whoa! You will never believe this-- but-- the woman on the swing is my Aunt!!! I swear! What a small world.

really - and hopefully she doesn't have any lung problems. Does she still smoke? Was she famous within the family? You should do a post about her.

I do like YouTube, but can't say that I go there all that often.

That Salem commercial is insane - breathing in fresh air by smoking a cigarette? Bit of an oxymoron.

Youtube has a magically time drain on me some days. Put time in and out comes laughs but not much more.
Insane Salem commercial - yes but only in today's world. Most people did not understand the damage from the smoke back then. Some of those that did were kept quiet.
